The Greenville Zoo will host its popular Get Out and Play Day this Saturday, March 30 from 9am to 1pm.

This year’s event is sponsored by The Palmetto Basics, an initiative spearheaded locally by Greenville County First Steps that features five fun, simple and powerful ways to help children become the happiest and most successful they can be.  Designed to address issues such as the lack of physical activity and connection to nature, Palmetto Basics Get Out and Play Day provides guests of all ages an opportunity to learn about science and nature and participate in outdoor activities.

A variety of community organizations will be on hand to provide information and giveaways focused on playful activities.

According to Anne Lee Buck, Program Director for Greenville County First Steps, family activity and engagement plays a major role in our everyday lives. “We know that movement and play are good for children’s bodies – their coordination, their strength and their overall health,” said Buck. “They are also ways that children explore and learn about the world, so Get Out and Play Day is a fantastic opportunity for families to spend time learning and playing.”

Get Out and Play Day is free with paid admission to the Greenville Zoo.
