The White House is about to get a whole lot cattier.
President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden will soon be joined by their family’s cat at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and in preparation they had their dog, Major, enlist in special training.
The younger of the Bidens’ two German shepherds has had trouble adjusting to life in Washington, D.C., having been involved in two “nipping” incidents since moving into the White House.
After getting off-site training last month, the Bidens confirmed he’s returned to living at the White House.
“He’s back, yeah,” said Jill Biden during an interview on “Today,” before revealing the pending arrival of the first feline.
"She is waiting in the wings," the first lady added.
Major’s training also involved interacting with other cats to make sure there would be no bad blood between all the four-legged Biden members.
"That was part of his training. They took him into a shelter with cats," she said. "He did fine."
Despite Major’s previous altercations, the Bidens asserted the three-year-old is a really good boy.
“He's such a sweet lovable dog. He really is," the first lady said.
After causing a "minor injury" to someone that startled him on March 8, Major and Biden’s other dog, Champ, underwent remedial training in Delaware before moving back to Washington, D.C. about a week later.
Later in the month, Major was involved in a second biting incident, this time with a National Park Service employee. The worker was seen by a medical unit, but suffered no injury, according to USA Today.
