Orchard Park, NY (WBEN) The owner of one off-stadium parking lot says things went well during last Saturday's scrimmage, but traffic was a bit of an issue.
Eric "The Hammer" Matwjiow of Hammer's Lot projects 75% of the previous year's season ticket holders came into the game. "Pretty much everybody knew knows the traffic pattern until they got changed by the sheriffs, and people were forced into certain parking lots, which were really not in the the best direction for them to enter and leave. They'd have to go a roundabout way, and which might cause chaos and gridlock," says The Hammer. "Some of the lots, I think, they can change the access, especially like down on Abbott Road, moving the blockade north of One Bills Drive, and let the blue lot people and the ADA lot people come in there, reducing the amount of traffic back up on the Big Tree Road because they were forced into I think it's Stadium Drive One, reduce that. Some of the other other roads, southwestern Boulevard, I understand, was very congested, taking an hour to move a half a mile. I would think after the games, only on my aspect, from what I can see, Abbott Road should be opened up for about an hour, just like they do at the Pocono Racetrack. Two lanes headed down the down south, right lane headed to Hamburg, and points south, and then left lane turn at Bosendorfer to get in under 219 and any other points east, and I think that would relieve some of the gridlock," he adds.
With fair traffic on Saturday Matwijow's advice is not wait until the last minute. "Come get out early to the stadium, so in case you get stuck in a gridlock, you're not going to miss getting into the stadium and being able to walk around and enjoy it. That's what I did. I didn't even go to my seats. I just went around. I mean, there's so much to see in the concourses, and even just walking around the outside, there's a plaza there that you can see different things. But I would highly recommend everybody get your chores done on Friday that you're going to normally do on Saturday. Get over to the stadium early, enjoy tailgating, and enjoy the whole new stadium," recommends The Hammer. .
He doesn't anticipate Saturday to be a typical tailgating crowd. " This isn't like the regular season table slamming look at me type of crowd. It was very family orientated. It was a very very nice crowd overall, and I I will say that some people were saying online that they're actually cleaning them up after themselves in the stadium lots looking for garbage cans and stuff, and they were bagging it now like the slobs in the past where it just looked like a disaster zone after the games, but that's this is preseason. More family. Hopefully, that'll carry over to regular season also to make the you know make the show show a little pride for yourself there," says The Hammer.
The Bills play Carolina Saturday at 1pm.
