The Greenville County Sheriff's Office issued the following media release Monday.
GREENVILLE, SC) – Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a string of armed robberies that occurred in Greenville County between September 18 – September 21, 2020. Investigators have obtained warrant arrests on 21 year-old, Mark Eleleokeakua Voyles of Mauldin and 18 year-old, Zion Akuamakana Beyer of Greenville.
The initial complaint began on September 18th when deputies received three robbery calls in the early morning hours, two of which were to individuals (200 Old Boiling Springs Road & 3500 Pelham Road) and one was at the Spinx convenience store, located at 400 Haywood Road. One incident involved Voyles and Beyer trying to break into an occupied vehicle and the other involved them stealing a person’s wallet and phone. The suspects also went to the Spinx and while armed with what appeared to be a firearm, stole money and attempted to forcefully make an employee exit the store at gunpoint.
During the course of those investigations, deputies learned of three additional cases from incidents that occurred on September 21st involving the same suspects. Two of the incidents occurred in other jurisdictions (Greenville City and Simpsonville City) and the third occurred to an individual at the Spinx, located at 3556 Pelham Road. During that case investigators found Voyles and Beyer responsible for robbing an individual while armed with what appeared to be a handgun.
Investigators were able to establish the probable cause to obtain warrants on the suspects and on October 1st, Voyles was taken into custody. Beyer, who had fled the state following the incidents, was located in Colorado Springs, Colorado on October 8th. Voyles is currently in the Greenville County Detention Center facing the following charges:
Kidnapping
Carjacking
4 counts of Criminal Conspiracy
3 counts of Armed Robbery
3 counts of Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime
Beyer, who faces the same charges, is awaiting extradition from Colorado.
