Two suspects charged in a Buncombe County triple homicide have waived extradition back to North Carolina, after being arrested out of state. Authorities say, 16-year-old Star Grant and 28-year-old Devan Oneal Loving were arrested Friday at a Motel 6 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
The arrest came one day after three people were found shot to death in Buncombe County. Investigators say Grant lived at the home where the victims were discovered. Both suspects are charged with three counts of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Officials say Grant is being charged as an adult. The victims were identified as 41-year-old Travis Grant, 42-year-old Kimberly Grant, and 66-year-old Sharon Grant. All three were family members of Star Grant.
The sheriff’s office is now arranging transportation for the suspects back to North Carolina while investigators continue working to determine a motive.
