The FBI in Atlanta says that Nearly 1,500 stolen guns and copious amounts of drugs are off the streets, after a recent operation. Yesterday the FBI announced federal charges against 20 people around Atlanta with ties to gun and drug trafficking, along with large scale gun thefts Some of the suspects are alleged gang members.
Officials say the investigation ramped up when members of the gang sold stolen guns to an undercover agent. Agents also seized over 40 pounds of both meth and marijuana. Nearly an ounce of fentanyl, over an ounce of powder cocaine and a pill press used to manufacture counterfeit pills, were also found in the sting.
The FBI released a statement saying "We will continue working to dismantle criminal networks that put guns and dangerous drugs on our streets and threaten our communities".
