Spartanburg Police say three people have been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting in the Collin Park neighborhood last August.
Officers responding to reports of gunfire found a trail of blood inside the home and 7 month old Zymir Demarco Smith suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck. Despite efforts to save him, Smith died at the scene.
Police Chief Art Littlejohn, who was a major at the time, said the shooting was not random and was a targeted attack. A $50,000 reward was later offered for information leading to an arrest.
Police say 21-year-old Darius Rodracus Wright and a juvenile suspect were arrested Friday, September 25, 2026, at separate locations. 18 year old Christopher Joseph Mallory was also charged. He was already being held on unrelated charges.
All three are charged with murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and discharging a weapon into a dwelling.
Wright and Mallory remain in custody without bond. The juvenile was taken to Columbia and remains in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Most importantly, I want to thank the members of our community who provided information and continued to support our efforts. On behalf of the Spartanburg Police Department, our thoughts remain with Zymir’s family.”
The investigation is ongoing.
