Officials say the reports of an active shooter at the University of South Carolina was the result of a swatting hoax.
The University has released a statement saying the school was the target of a hoax that has recently been happening on college campuses. Officials say there is no evidence that the false reports came from campus.
Students were originally instructed to shelter in place. The all-clear was given later after police scoured campus for the alleged shooter.
