A proposed ordinance concerning protests at a private residence was introduced at Tuesday night's Greenville County Council meeting. The ordinance if adopted, would make picketing or protesting at any private residence in the county illegal. It's a proactive measure as homes of public officials elsewhere in America, have been the scene of protests. However, Upstate based activist Bruce Wilson says, such an ordinance impedes on the constitutionally protected freedom to protest. A man named Terry Thacker also spoke on the subject during the public comment portion of the meeting. He expressed a different opinion. Ultimately, the Council referred the ordinance to their Public Safety Committee for further review. The comments from Thacker and Wilson are together below, with Thacker's first then Wilson's.
