The memory of a fallen Upstate deputy continues to live on as he was honored in a ceremony, Tuesday. Spartanburg County Deputy Austin Aldridge was killed in the line of duty this past summer. An event was held by the Sheriff's Office , naming Aldridge the Spartanburg County Deputy of The Year.
The Sheriff's Office Honor Guard unveiled a plaque dedicated to him on their Memorial Wall. During Tuesday's ceremony, his family was presented with the American Flag that flew over the Sheriff's Office on June 21st, the day he was killed after responding to a domestic incident.
The suspect charged with killing him, Duane Heard died late last month. During the event, The Sheriff's Office thanked the people of Spartanburg County for their continued support of the Aldridge family.
