Anderson County Death Investigation Ruled Homicide

The Anderson County Coroner was called to a home on East North Avenue, June 2, 2026, after a man was found unresponsive.

At the time, the death was considered suspicious. Officials say 61-year-old William Daniel Chandler was found dead in a hallway inside the home. An autopsy later determined he died from multiple traumatic injuries.


On Thursday, June 4, 2026, Chandler's death was officially ruled a homicide. According to Anderson Police, a preliminary investigation found Chandler had been involved in an altercation with another person at the residence. Police arrested the suspect, Robert Bradley Evans, on Wednesday.

A bond hearing is scheduled for Thursday afternoon. The investigation remains ongoing.

Initial post from the City of Anderson Police Department:

June 2, 2026 - At approximately 12:39 p.m. today, officers responded to a report of a suspicious death at 2503 East North Avenue. Police remain on scene with the Anderson County Coroner’s Office as a search warrant is executed. Detectives and Forensics personnel are interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence.

A portion of Boundary Street at East North Avenue will be closed for a period of time while the investigation continues. The cause of death has not yet been determined and will be released by the Coroner when available. At this time, the incident is being investigated as a suspicious death. There is no known danger or concern to the community said Chief Stewart.
