An Upstate man has been convicted and sentenced to 5 decades in prison for murder and a weapons charge. A jury in Anderson County convicted Keland Alexander Hailey for the 2019 murder of Korey Harrison, Thursday afternoon.
Court documents say that Hailey entered an apartment in November of that year and shot and killed Harrison before fleeing to Western North Carolina. Two eye witnesses testified in the trial and the jury was shown surveillance footage placing the defendant in the area of the crime, when it happened.
Solicitor David Wagner said " This verdict and sentence reflect the seriousness of the problem of community violence, which we are seeing too often in Anderson". Hailey is set to serve a 5 year concurrent sentence for the weapons charge, in addition to his 50 year prison sentence.
