A day of honor and remembrance in Anderson County.
Nine years ago, one-year-old Leona Wright went missing from a Pendleton apartment complex. June 6th has been reserved as "Leona Wright Day" and will be remembered until "justice about her death and disappearance come to light" according to the Anderson County Sheriff's Office.
Leona was reported missing the morning of June 6, 2015 from the Edgewood Square Apartments...since then her family has waited, and waited for answers.
In July 2020, Travis and Donnie Jones were charged with Leona's disappearance, but after a lack of evidence, a judge dismissed the case against the two men. Last year, in 2023, a golden bust of Leona was unveiled at the Sheriff's Office.
Anderson County Investigators continue to seek justice for Leona. Anyone who knows anything is strongly encouraged to speak up. Tips can be delivered anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 888-Crime-SC or by visiting http://www.p3tips.com/1038
