As students head back to school parents have a major challenged and that challenge is fear. In Late May, a gunmen shot and killed over 20 people at an elementary school in Texas. The Upstate had it's own similar tragedy this past spring when a student was shot and killed at Tanglewood Middle School in Greenville. A study conducted by the research firm DebtHammer says, over 85% of parents nationwide say they are at least slightly worried about school safety this year. 27% said they were extremely worried. Kids also are afraid, 55% of students surveyed expressed fears about school safety for this year. Nearly half of that number was made up of elementary age students.
