One of two suspects involved in a hit-and-run in Wellford has been taken into custody....
Police say a white van struck a child riding a bicycle on Gibbs Road near Ridge Road Thursday evening, June 11, 2026, around 5:30pm. The suspects fled on foot after abandoning the van shortly after the crash.

Friday afternoon, June 12, 2026, authorities say the driver of the van was taken into custody in Greer. The suspect was identified through license plate information and witness statements. Charges are forthcoming.
No information has been released about the passenger, the second suspect.
Wellford police say the 13-year-old child who was hit is in intensive care but is expected to make a full recovery.
