Two suspects have now been charged after a fatal shooting in Spartanburg County last month. Around 1:40 AM on February 11th, the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office received multiple reports of shots fired at the Springs Apartment Complex in Boiling Springs. One of the intended targets Tydreke Fleming called 911 saying that he and his cousin Tykeil Fleming had fled the scene and wrecked about a half a mile away.
Deputies found Tykeil suffering from a gunshot wound, he was transported to an area hospital where he later died. Tuesday morning, Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright announced the arrests of Malik Tyheim Smith of Roebuck and Charlize Burgos of Magonlia, New Jersey in connection to the incident. Investigators says Tykeil Fleming was visiting Burgos at the apartment complex when the shooting occurred.

At his press conference Sheriff Wright spoke about the lack of cooperation from potential witnesses. Smith is charged with the murder of Tykeil Fleming, the attempted murder of Tydreke Fleming and a weapons violation. Sheriff Wright says the lack of cooperation in this case is a part of a larger problem in Spartanburg County.
The second suspect Charlize Burgos is charged with Accesory To Murder Before And After The Fact. She had fled to New Jersey during the investigation but has been apprehended there and is awaiting extradition back to South Carolina. Smith was arrested in Spartanburg last week and is being held without bond. Below is an excerpt from Sheriff Wright's Tuesday press conference.
