A suspect is facing arson charges after a fire at a Western North Carolina event venue. As we previously reported, firefighters responded to the Stompin' Ground Dance Hall in Maggie Valley, Friday afternoon.
When fire crews arrived they found the building on fire and were able to quickly get the blaze under control. Police began investigating the incident as an arson.
The Maggie Valley Police Department says the suspect John Mark Evans was then arrested for arson.
The same person that owns Stompin' Ground also owns the Valley Motel which was damaged by a fire on December 21st. There's been no charges or arrests announced in that fire.
