An arrest announced after a fatal assault from February of this year.
The incident occurred back on February 29th in Asheville, where a pedestrian tapped on the hood of a stopped car. The passenger then got out of the car, pushed the pedestrian to the ground, and then returned to the car and left the scene.
The pedestrian, identified as 73-year-old Gregory William Martin, was transported to Mission Hospital after being found to have sustained severe head trauma from the fall.
The passenger, now identified as 24-year-old Tyler Coenraads, was originally charged with assault and inflicting serious bodily injury.
However, these charges have now been upgraded to second degree murder after Martin passed away this month.
Coenraads turned himself in Monday and is currently being held in the Buncombe County Detention Facility under no bond.
