
"A bad evening for County Council" those were the words of disappointed council member Lynn Ballard. At Tuesday night's meeting, the Greenville County Council discussed the City Of Greer's Project Homecoming. It's a project that the City of Greer has put $2 million dollars in and was looking for county support. It would be part of the redevelopment or upgrades of Greer's downtown.
The matter had previously been voted down in the three person Finance Committee, chaired by Willis Meadows. On Tuesday night, the Council voted against an opportunity to vote on the matter as an entire body. That move didn't sit well with Ballard.
He wasn't alone in his criticism of the decision either. Greer Native and fellow council member Chris Harrison was clear on his stance against the decision. Harrison went as far to say that he was "embarrassed" by the decision. Comments from both Ballard and Harrison during the meeting are below.
