Body cam footage released after fatal deputy involved shooting

The body cam footage of a fatal deputy involved shooting in Greenville, last year has now been released. As we previously reported, the Greenville County Sheriff's Office responded around 2:15AM on November 23rd, to the Kmart Plaza near West Farris Road in Greenville, after the suspect called 911.

The suspect later identified as 21 year old, Daziana (Day-Z-On-A) Natasha Lewis told the 911 dispatcher she was armed with a knife, but her revealtions didn't stop there. When Lewis was asked by the dispatched "Would you hurt my officers out there?" Lewis replied "Yes, I would."


Lewis refused to drop the knife, one deputy deployed a taser and the other a bean bag shotgun. Lewis then charged the deputies while still armed and was shot.

She was transported to the hospital where she was pronounce dead. Video of the incident can be seen on the Greenville County Sheriff's Office Youtube Channel, (Viewer Discretion is Advised)

Sheriff Hobart Lewis says the deputies use of force was justified. SLED is still investigating the incident.
