A suspect accused of shooting his wife at an Upstate motel and fleeing the state with their children, has been denied bond. As we previously reported, the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting at Rodeway Inn on New Cut Road, last week.
Upon arrival, deputies found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. Surveillance video showed the suspect 30 year old, Juan Carlos Morales leaving the hotel with two children. Investigators determined the woman was the suspect's wife.
An Amber Alert was issued and a few hours later Morales and the children were located in Towns County, Georgia. The children were found safe and Morales was taken into custody.
He's charged with attempted murder, attempted escape, unlawful conduct towards a child and other crimes. Morales has been denied bond after prosecutors described him as a "threat to society".
