An elementary school in Anderson was placed on what was termed a "secure hold" after an incident, Tuesday afternoon. The Anderson County Sheriff's Office says deputies were led on a chase around 12:30 by a driver wearing a ski mask that was running over 120 miles per hour on I-85.
As the chase moved towards Clemson Boulevard, Deputies backed off due to the area being densely populated. The car then went down Martin Luther King and hit another vehicle head and later slammed into a parked car at Whitehall Elementary.
The school resource officer then went into the parking lot and held the driver until deputies arrived. The Sheriff's Office says the suspect driver was not being pursued at the time of the crash. The name of the suspect has not yet been released.
Anderson School District 5 officials say the school was placed on a "secure hold" when the incident occurred. The driver that was hit head on by the suspect was injured in the crash, but is expected to be okay.
