The Pickens County coroner's Investigation continues into the tragic case of a child who somehow fell from a car reportedly driven by his mother Tuesday night. The boy, now identified as Axel Garcia, had just turned six years old.
He was pronounced dead when EMT's reached the scene on Saluda Dam Road at Grant Valley Road about two-and-a-half miles east of Easley. The Highway Patrol says, there is still doubt about whether the boy was struck by the car he was riding in, another car traveling behind it, or was fatally injured in the fall to the pavement.
Their official report stil says he was "ejected" from the rear-seat driver's side door of the 2020 Chevy Malibu. Two teenagers in the second car say the child was not hit by their vehcle.
