A married couple originally from the Upstate and best known for starring in a reality TV series, has been convicted on federal charges.
Apparently Chrisley does not know best, as both Todd and Julie Chrisley have been convicted of defrauding banks out of $30 million dollars in fraudalent loans. The Chrisleys and their accountant Peter Tarrantino were also convicted of multiple tax crimes. Julie also was found guilty of Wire Fraud and Obstructing Justice.
Both Todd and Julie grew up in Oconee County, before moving to the Atlanta area. They rose to fame through their reality series "Chrisley Knows Best" which ran for 9 seasons on the USA Network.
They were originally indicted in 2019 and a new indictment was filed in February of this year. Their trial started 3 weeks ago and ended Tuesday when a jury found them guilty in federal court. The U.S. Dept. Of Justice says the Chrisleys are set to be sentenced in October.
