Clemson has filed a lawsuit against the Atlantic Coast Conference. The suit filed in Pickens County centers around the ACC's grant of rights and exit fees.

The suit questions the league grant of rights that would allow the ACC to own Clemson's media rights even after their expected exit from the league. The suit calls for a declaration that the ACC won't own rights to Clemson games after its exit. It also calls for the conference's exit fee of an estimate 140 million to be ruled as an unenforceable penalty.

This comes after the College Football Playoff is expected to announce a deal with ESPN that would widen the financial gap between the SEC and Big Ten and everyone else.

Schools in those conferences would stand to earn over 20 million annually. ACC Teams are expected to earn just over 13 million each year in the new agreement.
