Despite city council's concerns about an uptick in arrests and fans being ejected from the stadium, The Clemson Athletic Department is counting the advantages of selling alcohol inside Memorial Stadium.

$ 467,843 to be exact are the advantages. Over 45,000 drinks were sold during Saturday's otherwise disappointing home opener against LSU. It was the first time fans could purchase alcoholic beverages inside Memorial Stadium.

Clemson had been the only contender in the ACC, SEC and Big Ten that hadn't caved on that issue. The cost of the NCAA settlement was a  big factor. Clemson athletics says the extra income will  finance 150 more full scholarships in all sports.

Clemson also says more than 400 people signed in as Designated Drivers at Saturday's game.
