A sitting Congressman from the Upstate and the candidate hoping to succeed him have both weighed in after the attempted assassination of Donald Trump.
3rd District Congressman Jeff Duncan said “President Trump is an America-first patriot and a fighter for America. We should lift up President Trump, his family, and our Nation in prayer.” Let me be clear, the violent rhetoric in American politics must end now! We can vigorously debate policies, but violence should never be allowed.”
The woman hoping to take the seat Duncan is vacating, Sheri Biggs also issued a statement after the incident.
Biggs said " May God heal our nation from the mental and spiritual problems that have led to the evil intentions of yesterday’s assassination attempt. I’m so proud that President Trump - even in the midst of chaos and fear - stood up, put his fist in the air to tell his supporters and the American people that the fight continues."
