Congressman William Timmons joined 106.3 on The Charlie James Show Tuesday afternoon to discuss the Colonial Pipeline shutdown and the importance of cyber security among other topics.
Congressman Timmons says those handling the cyber-attack that led to the Colonial Pipeline shutdown, which supplies almost half of the southeast’s gasoline, expect things to be resolved and the pipeline to be reopened within the next few days.
"I'm just hoping this is a wake up call for this country," said Congressman Timmons. "Cyber security is our vulnerable underbelly, and if we do not invest in cyber security protections for critical infrastructure, this is going to happen again. And it can only get worse."
While on The Charlie James Show Tuesday afternoon, Congressman Timmons, who is preparing to graduate with his masters in cyber security, expressed his belief in the importance of cyber security for the United States.
He added that he thinks the federal government should get involved in protecting key infrastructure, such as the colonial pipeline, from these types of cyber-attacks in the future.
