United Healthcare insured patients in the Upstate area may soon lose in-network access to Bon Secours doctors and services due to a contract dispute.
Bon Secours St. Francis Health System in a Facebook post Monday warned patients that their contract with United Healthcare insurance in South Carolina will expire July 1.
Negotiations have ongoing since January, but no agreement has been reached. The hospital systems claims stated UnitedHealthcare underpays for services compared to market standards.
If no agreement is reached, Bon Secours may become out-of-network for some United Healthcare plans in South Carolina for around 30,000 patients.
