Four people have been charged after it was discovered that a convicted sex offender was volunteering at a Low Country church. The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office announced the most recent arrest in the case, Wednesday as Michael Fields was taken into custody for unlawfully placing a child at risk.
The case centers around Warren Spence Perry a convicted sex offender who was prohibited from being around children. Authorities Perry was volunteering at the Pawley's Island Community Church and served as a custodian at their Christian school in recent years.
Perry was arrested earlier this month In addition to Fields, three others have also been charged. They include the church's former Senior Pastor Don Williams, his wife and former church employee Ginny Williams and Nikki Howard the former director of Pawley's Island Christian Academy.
The group faces charges that range from conspiracy, to obstruction of justice and unlawfully putting children at risk.
