The Greenville County Council has approved the proposed Unified Development Ordinance or UDO. The Council voted 7-5 in favor of the UDO.
The five who voted against it include Benton Blount, Steve Shaw, Rick Bradley, Stan Tzouvelekas and Joey Russo.
Councilman Tzouvelekas argued that the Council needed an 8-4 vote to pass the UDO because the Planning Commission's recommendation did not get a passing vote. A re-vote was then called and got the same 7-5 outcome and Chairman Dan Tripp ruled in favor of approving the UDO.
Also, Councilman Butch Kirven who voted for the UDO, was presented with the Order Of The Palmetto at the meeting.
