A State Representative from North Carolina is facing child sex crime charges. Cecil Brockman, a Democrat in the North Carolina State House is charged with statutory rape and indecent acts with a child.
Arrest records say, the 41 year old Brockman engaged in a sexual act with a 15 year old. A magistrate's order to deny Brockman bond says he tried to use his status to obtain information on the victim's whereabouts.
The order also says Brockman tried to contact the minor victim multiple times. Brockman is a High Point native and his district is in Guilford County.
North Carolina Governor Josh Stein and leaders in the state's Democratic Party are calling on Brockman to resign.
