Western North Carolina's largest city saw hundreds gather Monday night for an immigration protest. The protesters gathered in Downtown Asheville, police there issued an alert about the protests around 7PM.
The crowd walked the area of Haywood Street, they then blocked the area of Patton Avenue and Broadway Street. The group then gathered at Pack Square Park before dispersing around 8PM.
The demonstrations was part of the nationwide "Day Without Immigrants" protests. Some Asheville businesses were closed Monday in support of the movement.
Other cities such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston and Pittsburgh held similar protests, Monday.
