Detention officer charged with smuggling drugs into jail

A now former Upstate detention officer is accused of bringing guns and vapes into the jail, she worked at. Toni Marie Hutchins is charged with trafficking meth and smuggling contraband into the Cherokee County Jail.

Three inmates, Christopher Sellars, Bradley Whitesides Jr. and Leonard Finch are also charged in connection to Hutchins.


The Sheriff's Office says a contact of the three inmates would meet Hutchins in the jail parking lot to give her the drugs and vapes.

Hutchins has since been fired, she was on duty at the time of her arrest.
