A now disgraced former Upstate Sheriff who has been convicted on federal charges is asking for a lighter sentence.
Sentencing guideline documents filed last week, recommended that Wright's sentence be between just under 3 years and 3 and a half years in prison.
Wright's lawyers say that sentenced could disrupt his treatment for substance abuse. The documents also pointed out that other sheriff's in the state who have been prosecuted got lesser sentences that the one recommended for Wright.
He's scheduled to appear in federal court for sentencing July 7th.
