The Department of Social Services has released documents regarding allegations of abuse, by a now former worker at an Upstate daycare.
As we previously reported, 53 year old Janie Ruinard who worked at 1st Presbyterian Day School in Anderson, faces 9 counts of placing a child at risk of, or causing harm.
DSS says, leadership at the daycare reviewed surveillance footage in Late February that showed Ruinard roughly handling children, while trying to put them down for a nap. The documents say another daycare worker was in the room during the alleged abuse, but did not take action.
1st Presbyterian terminated Ruinard and reported the situation to DSS. Earlier this month, Ruinard was formally charged and arrested earlier this month. DSS is recommending the daycare be cited for regulatory violations. They also suggest more training for workers at the facility.
Pastor Dennis Tedder from 1st Presbyterian Church released a statement following Ruinard's arrest saying " First Presbyterian Church Day School makes the safety and well-being of our children and their families of paramount importance. We will always act to protect our children and notify authorities of any indications of improper treatment or conduct where our children and program are concerned".
