A dog has been injured after being attacked by a coyote in the Upstate. The attack was reported in the Boiling Springs area. The dog's owner says she knew there was a pack of coyotes that had been prowling the neighborhood.
However, it was somewhat shocking that the attack happened in broad daylight. The dog received stitches and other treatment after the attack. The SCDNR says that coyotes are normally most active at night.
Coyote nuisance hunting is legal year round with a de-predation permit or hunting license from the DNR. If a coyote is within 100 yards of your home, you can shoot or trap a coyote legally.
