A suspect is in custody after a standoff with deputies in North Georgia, Sunday night. The Franklin County Sheriff's Office responded to Citgo in Lavonia, just before 7PM.
Upon arrival, they met with a woman who reported that her boyfriend had hit her and was armed while making threats, towards her and himself. A call then came in about a barricaded suspect at a home in Carnesville. That house happened to be home of the victim.
Deputies arrived at the home and attempted to negotiate with the suspect. Those negotiations were unsuccessful, the Georgia State Patrol and SWAT Team were then called in. They were able to make entry into the home and took the suspect into custody.
The suspect has been identified as 43 year old, William Gregory Ballenger of Commerce. He's charged with two counts of aggravated assault, domestic violence and terroristic acts.
