Tuesday's torrential rains brought about rising waters and forced two Upstate fire departments to perform a water rescue. The Cowpens Fire Department responded to assist Cherokee Creek firefighters around 12:30 Tuesday, after a van was swept off the road by rising waters.
When firefighters arrived they saw that a delivery van was about 50 feet off the road. The van had been swept away by water and was wedged against a tree, with the driver hanging on the side of the van.
Firefighters extended a ladder to the van and were able to rescue the driver. No injuries were reported.
