Several of South Carolina's leaders have responded after shots were fired outside the White House Correspondents Dinner, over the weekend.

Several in-state elected officials have weighed in via social media since the incident. 3rd District Congresswoman Sheri Biggs said On X "God has special plans for our President Donald Trump, and I’m grateful He has had his hand of protection on our President. Please pray for President Trump, our nation’s leaders, and America".

State Attorney General and Gubernatorial Candidate Alan Wilson posted "What happened is a reminder of the world we’re living in. When danger shows up without warning, it’s the U.S. Secret Service and law enforcement agencies who run toward it. In a matter of seconds, they secured the situation and protected innocent lives."

The suspected shooter 31 year old, Cole Tomas Allen was tackled and taken into custody near a stairwell that leads to the ballroom where the dinner was being held. A federal agent was reportedly shot in the incident, but was said to have been saved by his bullet proof vest.
