
A former Upstate furniture store employee has been charged with embezzling over $200,000. The Anderson County Sheriff's Office says 46 year old, Maria Hamma was arrested after a 2 month long investigation.
Investigators say Hamma used multiple illegal methods to defraud High Point LLC. The Sheriff's Office says Hamma used the company credit card, forged herself a bonus check and forged numerous timecards.
Hamma also repeatedly posed as the owner of the business and forged contracts. All in All the business lost more than 215 grand from her fraudulent actions. Hamma is charged with forgery, computer crimes and breach of trust.
