The owners of an Upstate mall are being sued after a teenager was fattaly shot there, last year. As we previously reported, Shy'Heem Clemons was shot and killed at the Anderson Mall in July of 2022.
The suspect, Tyleekus Robinson was arrested and charged with murder, a few weeks later. Now the Clemons family is set to file a wrongful death suit against the owners and management of the mall and 10 unnamed individuals.
The suit says that Clemons visited the mall while he was home from college on summer break. When leaving the mall Clemons and a friend were accosted by Robinson and a group of people who began threatening them. When Clemons tried to leave , he was fatally shot.
Brian Mickelson is the attorney for the family, he says that the mall and its ownership failed to keep its customers safe and that the mall was allowed to become a haven for criminal activity in the years prior to the shooting.
