A Detroit transplant who has made his home in the Upstate for years now is going to prison for drug trafficking and other crimes.
The U.S. Department Of Justice says 41 year old, Bobby Tyrell Davis has been sentenced on charges of distributing fentanyl, conspiracy to distribute heroin and fetanyl, money laundering and a weapons violation.
Davis previously was convicted of trafficking heroin and served time in prison before being released in 2017. Court records say in recent years, Davis was getting fentanyl and heroin from suppliers in Detroit and distribute it across the Upstate. A search of his home last year uncovered multiple guns which Davis was prohibited from owning due to his prior conviction.
His co-defendant Zach Goosby has already pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute heroin and fentanyl and is awaiting sentencing. Court records show Goosby handled the hand to hand transactions and Davis laundered the money made in the operation.
Davis has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison, there is no parole or early release in the federal system.
