FEMA Spokesperson Jaclyn Rothenberg joined the Tara Show Thursday morning to speak on the Disaster Relief Efforts in the Carolinas. Rothenberg was asked about reports that more than a billion dollars of FEMA funding was spent on assisting immigrants in the U.S. and the effects that spending has on funding this recovery effort.

Rothenberg said " Money that is being used to help is a different fund. The Disaster Relief Fund has enough money to support Hurricane Helene response efforts. Any of the money being used to supports efforts at the border is not co-related."

Rothenberg had this message for people around the area. "FEMA has enough money to respond to Hurricane Helene. I want the people of North and South Carolina and those impacted to hear it from me directly, FEMA has enough money to support you".

Over 190 people were confirmed dead from Hurricane Helene on Wednesday, more than half of those deaths were in North Carolina.
