A former upstate deputy has been arrested in connection to the dissemination of obscene material to a minor.
In a media release the Greenville County Sheriff's Office said SLED informed them of the arrest of former deputy Sean Egan who was hired by the Sheriff's Office in January of this year after being employed by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
While still in his probationary period Sheriff Hobart Lewis was informed by SLED that they were conducting an active investigation concerning Egan. At that time, Sheriff Lewis placed Egan on administrative leave and then subsequently terminated him for Conduct Unbecoming in March of this year.
The 27 year old Egan was arrested by SLED Monday and charged with 2 counts of disseminating obscene material to a minor and two countys of unlawfully placing a child at risk.
Egan was booked at the Abbeville County Detention Center.
