A suspect is dead and an NCSBI agent is recovering after an arrest attempt in Western North Carolina. Investigators say, Special Agents with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, working with Spruce Pine Police, were serving an arrest warrant Friday on 52-year-old Timothy Alan Hoilman.
Hoilman was wanted on charges including statutory rape and statutory sex offense involving a child 15 or younger. Authorities say when agents approached him near Highway 226, Hoilman pulled a gun and shot himself.
The round also struck an SBI agent’s protective vest. Both men received medical aid at the scene. Hoilman later died at a hospital. No additional details have been released, art this time.
