A former University of South Carolina Basketball player is accused of killing his own mother. The Jacksonville Florida Sheriff's Office says 28 year old Eric Christopher Cobb is charged with murder.
The charge comes after Cobb's mother, 51 year old Erika Winford, was found shot to death in the yard of a home in Jacksonville. Witnesses reported hearing the woman screaming "he's going to kill me", Sunday night.
Another witness called 911 after discovering Winford's body Monday morning. Cobb played Basketball for the Gamecocks in 2015 before being dismissed for violating team rules in 2016.
He then transferred to Uconn, where he had other behavioral issues. Cobb is being held in Duval County on a charge of 2nd degree murder.
