Former leaders in the Palmetto State's political world have been arrested. The South Carolina Attorney General's Office says, former State Election Commission Director Howard Knapp and former Deputy Director Paige Salonich are both facing charges.
Knapp is accused of misconduct in office, embezzlement, accesory after the fact and 8 counts of use of office for financial gain. Salonich is charged with wiretapping.
The case will be prosecuted by the State AG's Office. Knapp's Attorney said "This is all about politics. We look forward to a very public trial. See you there."
