Nikki Haley is headed for the campaign trail. One of the former governor's inner circle confirms she's about to announce her candidacy for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination.

The Post and Courier reports Haley's close supporters are getting evites to a February 15th event at the Shed in Charleston being called a "special announcement."
Speculation about her White House ambitions has been fueled most recently by her comment in an interview criticizing Donald Trump's rerun that she would be taking some time over the holidays to consider her own prospects and talking it over with the family.
There was some expectation when she resigned as UN Ambassador in 2018 that she might challenge Trump's reelection in 2020. But she returned to South Carolina where she has since bought a home on Kiawah Island and become board member of Boeing Aircraft's Charleston County division. The Post and Courier reports she's earning fees as highs 200-thousand dollars on the public speaking circuit.
