A former Detention Officer in the Upstate is set to spend nearly a decade behind bars on child sex crime charges. John Jeffrey Clark pleaded guilty Thursday on two counts of 2nd degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
Court records show an investigation was launched after a longtime acquaintance of Clark's told the Greenville County Sheriff's Office that Clark asked her for a photo of her 12 year old daughter in her underwear.
Investigators determined Clark contacted the woman through a government email address. Other emails were discovered between Clark and a Virginia woman in reference to Clark sending a bikini for her 7 year old daughter to wear.
Investigators say a cell phone was found with more than 1700 messages referring to Clark's sexual interest in children. Clark lived in Anderson County and was arrested and charged there. He has been sentenced to 8 years in prison.
